We are Growing!

One Spirit Learning Alliance, Ltd. (referred to here as “One Spirit” or the “Corporation”) is growing and the Board of Trustees is expanding. One Spirit is currently seeking up to three additional Trustees to serve on the Board's Treasurer, an Officer position, an Audit Committee opening, and / or facilitate one of our major strategic goals: curriculum review and development. Trustees are volunteers and need to be in New York City from 2 times a year and able commit to 4-6 hours a week. As provided in One Spirit’s by-laws, “[t]he Board of Trustees shall be responsible for the management of the Corporation and shall have general power to control and manage the affairs and property of the Corporation subject to applicable law and in accordance with the purposes and limitations set forth in the Certificate of Incorporation and in these By-Laws.”


Ideal candidates for Trustee will have the highest ethics, committed to true diversity, have a spiritual nature and keen interest in, understanding of and alignment with One Spirit’s vision and mission. To best assist One Spirit, one or more of the following skill sets is desired in candidates for Trustee:

Accounting, Business, Financial, Financial Compliance, Fundraising, Special Events, Law, Policy Development, Program Development, Program Evaluation, Technology Planning and Use, Human Resources, Vendor Relationships.



The greatest need is presently that of a person to become One Spirit’s next Treasurer. The Treasurer must be available at One Spirit’s office in New York City at least 10-15 hours a month and on an on-call basis. One Spirit’s by-laws provide that:

The Treasurer shall ensure the responsibility for the custody of all funds, securities and property owned by the Corporation [One Spirit] and shall keep full and accurate accounts of all receipts and disbursements of the Corporation. The Treasurer shall be responsible for the deposit of all moneys and other valuable effects in the name and to the credit of the Corporation in such depositories as may be designated by the Board. The Treasurer shall render a statement of the financial condition of the Corporation at the annual meeting of the Board. The Treasurer shall perform all duties incident to the office of the Treasurer and such other duties as from time to time may be assigned to him or her by the Board, the President, or the Executive Committee, if any, which duties may include powers elsewhere assigned or delegated to other officers.

Ideal candidates for the Treasurer’s position will:

  • have an accounting, business, financial and/or financial compliance or other relevant professional background; and
  • have the time and technical expertise to perform the responsibilities set forth above and work closely with One Spirit’s Finance and Human Resources Director in establishing the budget.
