An Essential Spirituality for a Global Age
Evolving Our Souls, Awakening the Spaciousness in Our Hearts, Embodying the Fullness of Life, Re-imagining Our World
Many people in our society seek a more meaningful life. We hope to make peace with ourselves and to have healthy relationships in our personal and professional lives. For many of us however, the traditional religious wisdom has failed to keep up with the challenges we face. Rather than fixed beliefs or standard practices assigned by an external authority, we seek an authentic experience that challenges us to be wiser and more compassionate, at the same time that it supports the natural growth of our soul.
Our Curriculum in Essential Spirituality aims to meet this need. It supports an emergent spirituality that can only flourish on an interrelated foundation of body, heart and mind. This curriculum could go by other names: Authentic Spirituality, Evolutionary Spirituality, World Spirituality, Global Spirituality and Integral Spirituality, to name a few. Regardless of the name we use, the purpose of this curriculum is to support the unfolding of spiritual depth in each of us, and in the organizations we are a part of. We seek a spirituality based more on experience and understanding than on history or belief.
Our Essential Spirituality workshops and events emphasize an authentic, practical spirituality. According to Wayne Teasdale in the Mystic Heart Being spiritual suggests a personal commitment to a process of inner development… a way of life that affects and includes every moment of existence. It is (a) search for ultimate meaning, direction and belonging….To be spiritual requires us to stand on our own two feet while being nurtured and supported” in the company of like minded friends.
This sort of spirituality is at the heart of all the world’s wisdom traditions. We believe the common heritage of these traditions is clarified by contemporary understandings in psychology, cognitive science, cultural studies, the healing and creative arts, organizational theory, and other areas of modern knowledge. The various programs and courses that make up this curriculum draw on all of these sources in a direct and immediate way - not as abstract theory - but as a lived reality that we can experience in the company of worthy companions.
Join us for a weekend or evening workshop to deepen your inner life, to meet like minded friends, and to enjoy the riches of the One Spirit community.
