TRAINING SUMMARY

Our Educational Philosophy: Essential Spirituality

• Aspires to a healthy integration of body, heart, mind and spirit.
• Uses everyday experience to move closer to what is true.
• Expresses deep, universal truths about the human condition, while supporting individual development of an inner spiritual life.

The Seminary Training Program Graduates Ministers Who:

• Recognize that our own spiritual growth can be enhanced by exploring the wisdom and practices of other traditions.
• Are committed to their own spiritual life as the foundation for serving the evolution of human consciousness as a whole.
• Seek to support others in developing an inclusive, Interspiritual perspective, and in cultivating an authentic spiritual life.

Goals of the Curriculum

• Develop an understanding of the world’s major wisdom traditions, practices, and rituals
• Deepen your own spiritual practice, and learn to help others develop theirs
• Become familiar with basic psychological principles as they apply to everyday life
• Learn to serve others in informal encounters, as well as in formal ways as an ordained Interfaith minister in roles such as pastor, spiritual counselor, or officiant of life-cycle celebrations.

Program Overview

• Two year, part-time professional training program.
• Classes meet once a month (for either a Saturday or a full weekend), September – June, plus electives and end-of-year residential intensives.
• Attending and distance learning programs available.
• Peer and professional staff support through study groups, mentoring program, and Deans.
• Homework assignments include exploration of spiritual beliefs and practices, reflection upon personal experience, life reviews, and creation of rituals and ceremonies.
• Our students are of various ages, nationalities, and vocations, as well as from a wide variety of educational, religious and spiritual backgrounds.

The Admissions Process

• Rolling admissions throughout the year for classes starting in September.
• Open houses available to get to know students, graduates, faculty, and staff.
• Written application and interview required.
• Financial incentives and limited financial aid available.
