The Inner Journey from Me to We

Interfaith Perspectives on Purpose and Possibility

CLI

Do you want to live your life with more purpose and possibility?

Are you open to more skillful ways of relating with presence and mindfulness?

Do you want to help others thrive in a changing world?

The Inner Journey From Me to We focuses on the development of the individual, knowing that how we lead is determined by who we are. This course fosters your ability to grow deeper into your interior, more authentic, True Self. As your unique life journey has unfolded, your own unique psychological and spiritual issues have continually resurfaced in new ways. This course supports exploration of these issues so you may better understand your personality in the context of your True Self. You develop the ability to step back and witness your personality in action and in so doing, access your True Self and the wisdom to make wiser choices for effective action.

Your work on yourself and your growth in consciousness are gifts to yourself and others as well. This class combines inner work in the context of community for support, dialogue and insight. Participants are invited to engage in ways that allow each person to be challenged and supported in the expression and development of their authentic self. A series of personal practices are encouraged to deepen the student’s understanding of self and others.

classroomIn addition, the “we” experience of the collective class journey offers insight into patterns of relating with each other, our partners, friends, family, co-workers and community. Class members will explore the importance and art of conversation that transform relating from a focus on self interest and problems to caring and new possibilities for the larger whole. Participants will have the opportunity to develop the courage to show up authentically, honor multiple perspectives, while learning about the power of language and context. Practical skills for working with others in groups and organizations include training and practice in group facilitation, dialogue and group dynamics.

Some questions for exploration:

  • What needs to be awakened in me to truly be “Who am I?”

  • How can I move past the limits of my personality to foster the expression of my True Self?

  • What daily practices support my awareness and access to my True Self in my leadership roles?

  • How do I develop an integrated approach to working with my mind, body and spirit to build my capacity for the expression of authentic leadership?

  • As I serve, how can I most authentically support others’ growth and make a contribution to my family, work, community and the world?

The Inner Journey from Me to We is a six month course of study for those who want to develop themselves and impact others to make a difference in the world. The course is designed to facilitate both personal and professional growth, regardless of what role you play in society, but offers special potential for leaders, managers, entrepreneurs, community organizers, consultants, teachers, ministers, counselors, coaches, health care professionals, legal practitioners, government workers, volunteers, parents and grandparents.

In summary, this course will help you to:

  • Identify your strengths and areas for growth
  • Learn practices to live into your potential
  • Deepen your ability to relate more skillfully with others
  • Enhance your ability to listen
  • Open to the multiple perspectives of others
  • Learn and practice facilitation skills for your personal and professional life
  • Foster the development of awareness, presence, and inquiry
  • Deepen into the larger experience of who you are and your ability to engage in life

Personal and interpersonal development will be encouraged through a variety of approaches including experiential exercises, readings, meditation, self-inquiry, journaling, and creative service opportunities. Participants will practice dialogue and facilitation skills together in study groups between monthly classes and in a group presentation to the class.
