Podcasting
Tipsheet - Print this page for your reference |
| |
This tipsheet was created so that you can print
out instructions to have beside your computer when subscribing to
podcasts. This example will cover downloading the free program,
Tapping the Unknown Power of the Human Mind with Dr. Rupert
Sheldrake. You will use identical steps to download any
coursework you need for your regsitered classes.
NOTE: This tipsheet assumes that you have
created a One Spirit Podcasting Account and that you have received
an approval email from One Spirit staff. After this happens, you
are ready to download your first class audio! |
| |
| |
Step 1 - Click the Podcast Link
| |
Once
you are registered for a One Spirit program or class, you will receive
an email with a podcast link. This link instructs iTunes where to
find the audio to download.
Podcast links start with the letters "itpc"
In this example, we will use the link on the One Spirit Podcast
Center website to Dr. Rupert Sheldrake's lecture on the human mind.
Find it by navigating to http://www.onespiritInterfaith.org/podcast/test.html
Once there, read the brief instructions and click the Podcast link
that begins with "itpc." If you have
installed iTunes correctly on your computer system, iTunes will
activate automatically. |
| |
| |
Step 2 - iTunes verification |
| |
iTunes might take a few seconds to load. Once
it does, it may look similar to the following picture. Enter your
One Spirit Podcast Account username and password into the window
that opens. Be sure to click "Remember My User Name and Password"
to save time later. iTunes might still ask you for your user
name and password several times. THIS IS NORMAL. Just enter
it to approve the download of each audio file in the podcast.

| |
| |
Step 3 - Download |
| |
One
file for your class will begin downloading automatically. You can
tell that the file is downloading because a colorful round icon
will appear to spin next to the file name.... Notice that the
text of the file names is light grey: this means that the files have
not yet downloaded to your computer.
| |
| |
REMEMBER THIS HELPFUL HINT!
When new audio files become available for you to download, they will
appear in your iTunes Podcast list, but you might not see them at
first, like in this image: |
| |
| |
| |
Notice the triangle pointing
at the course title. |
| |
| |
| |
CLICK THE TRIANGLE to make
it point down, opening the collection of audio files for your use,
as in the following illustration: |
| |
| |
| |
Step 4 - Download Other Files |
| |
Click the "Get" button next to any remaining files to begin downloading
the additional files. You can do this at any time, but remember
that the more files you download at once, the slower the
download might happen. To stop a file from downloading,
click the X. You can always restart a download at a later time.
| |
| |
Step 5 - Listen |
| |
You
can also download one track while listening to another. Notice in
the following picture that Part 1 has a blue speaker icon (I'm listening
to it) and Part 2 has the brightly colored download icon.
