| What are
Podcasts? |
Podcasting
is a method of distributing audio recordings and class materials
via the Internet.
In the context of One Spirit, podcasts are distance-learning
classes on the Internet. What makes them special is
how the courses are delivered to you. When you register
for a One Spirit Podcast, free "Pod-catching" software on your
computer regularly checks One Spirit's website for any new
audio. When a new class session is recorded and audio becomes available, your
computer can then download it. Just like audio on CD, you decide
when you want to listen. Since the files are in MP3 format,
they can be transfered to an MP3 player, such as Apple's iPod
or burned to a compact disc for playing on stereo system
or portable disc player. |
|
| Are they
secure? |
|
The registration process that One Spirit uses keeps the podcasts
secure: students must have a valid username and password and
be registered for the specific course material they wish to
receive. Thus, students can receive only the recordings for
which they have been registered, which ensures classroom privacy.

| Do I need an iPod to listen to Podcasts? |
| No. You can play Podcasts on your
computer, or even burn an MP3-CD for playing in many newer CD
and DVD players. |
| |
| Who can
participate? |
Anyone currently
enrolled in One Spirit Interfaith Seminary, The Conscious Leadership
Institute or any of One Spirit's public courses in Essential
Spirituality may register for a podcast account in order
to download thier class recordings.
Podcasting is free to all registered students, attending and
distance learning! |
