Distance Learning

On-site and Distance Learning Available
The One Spirit Interfaith Seminary provides a well-developed distance learning component, allowing a significant number of students living worldwide to participate actively in the seminary program. Distance learning students are supported in the following ways:
  • Private Class Website: Student participation on the private class website allows discussion about class topics, sharing of spiritual inspiration, prayer requests and much more.
  • Downloadable Audio Recordings: Recordings of the monthly class sessions held in New York are made available through the private class website in the form of M4P Audiobooks each month.
  • Downloadable Files:All handouts, supporting materials, and audio files from each class ar1e also available for download from the private class website.
  • Study Groups: Distance learning students are required to participate in study groups (just as attending students do), either with other students in their region or via conference call.
  • Deans: Each student is assigned a Dean who will be providing personal support throughout the program through regular contact and review of monthly assignments.
  • Mentoring: Our mentoring program adds another layer of support to distance learners. When possible, a mentor assigned to a corresponding student will be from their general geographic area.
  • Telephone Support:Telephone support from your dean and the educational staff is also a part of the many ways our distance learners are supported throughout their seminary experience.
Distance learning is inherently a different experience than in-residence study. It requires a greater degree of independence and self-initiative. Nevertheless, most distance learning students find the training program to be a rich and life-enhancing experience, and develop a strong sense of spiritual community with their classmates and colleagues over the course of the two-year training. Distance learning students are encouraged to attend class whenever feasible. All students, both distance learners and attending students, are required to attend the year-end Intensives held in New York.

Rev. Ana Teresa Ortiz class of 2011 on her experience with the OSLA Distance Learning Program

" As you consider joining OneSpirit as a distance learner, I hope you will read my message endorsing OneSpirit’s Distance Learning Program. Having been a teacher in settings ranging from Ivy League colleges to correctional institutions, I was a distance learning skeptic of the worst kind." - Read Full Endorsement
