  What our graduates are doing

Students who graduate from One Spirit Interfaith Seminary serve the world in a wide variety of ways. Our students, alumni and staff tell us that their experience at One Spirit affects their lives and motivates them to share the fruits of their learning in many forms of service, both formal and informal, in all walks of life. From one end of the spectrum, the lives of many alumni may look the same from the outside, but on the inside they are more peaceful individuals, living their lives in more skillful ways. Other graduates find their service comes in the form of chaplaincy, hospice work, starting new worship communities, officiating at weddings and other life-cycle ceremonies, or supporting efforts towards world peace.
This past year alone, One Spirit students and alumni participated in a growing wave of compassionate and engaged spirituality. Their activities had personal, local and global impact.

Our Students

In your ministerial training, you will join with other students who come from a variety of religious, educational, ethnic, spiritual, and occupational backgrounds. Our students are:

  • Of all ages - from recent college graduates in their 20’s to retired grandparents in their 70’s, and everything in between

  • From all over the country, and all over the world

  • From every type of employment - airline pilots, police officers, mothers, college professors, artists, psychotherapists, attorneys, sales clerks, fundraisers, social workers, secretaries, massage therapists, hospital administrators, physicians, executives, life coaches, corporate managers, nurses, and every other conceivable occupation

  • From every religious and spiritual tradition - Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Yoruba, A Course in Miracles, New Thought, Wicca - and from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds

When our students come together at One Spirit, they learn about the world’s religions, themselves, and each other. During the first year of study their differences become less significant, as each person recognizes for themselves that the bond that unites them is far more powerful than anything that could keep them apart.

Deep friendships develop – friendships between students, friendships with faculty and alumni – spiritual friendships that accept each person for who they are and, at the same time, call them to become who they are meant to be. Often these friendships last a lifetime and become a treasured source of personal and professional satisfaction.

Student Experiences

"One Spirit is truly a spiritual approach relevant to the 21st Century. While honoring the wisdom contained in traditional religion, their approach creates an integrated context that brings the teachings alive and makes them accessible. But rather than just appreciating the different religious forms, the One Spirit context asks us to go deeper - to a place of embodying what all the traditions speak of. They do this in a loving yet challenging environment, seeking to model the very core values that lie at the heart of all traditions. I am profoundly grateful for this incredible context to learn, grow, and deepen my connection with Spirit. The professionalism is outstanding. You do indeed walk your talk."
- Ron K., Class of 2005, Distance Learning Student

"As a psychotherapist with the belief that all people need a spiritual life in order to heal, I have found the One Spirit experience invaluable. It has deepened my personal relationships, my connection with my patients, with God and with myself."
- Barbara H., Class of 2004, Attending Student

"The work that One Spirit is doing is necessary and invaluable to the healing and transformation of the planet. If we are to survive and grow in our world, we must transform ourselves through love and acceptance for all teachings, all people, and all cultures, everywhere. One Spirit is a leader in this work."
- Cory C., Class of 2005, Attending Student

"One Spirit provided the crucible, the safe and loving space for me to dare to explore and be open to who I am as a child of God. I had no idea in my mid-50's that my life has barely begun. I am thrilled, exhilarated and stretched beyond what I ever imagined. At the same time, I feel that I've always known what I've rediscovered here. Through One Spirit I have heard God's whisper in my heart."
- Carol C., Class of 2005, Attending Student

"As a psychotherapist and university professor, I can safely say that the loving and highly gifted One Spirit faculty is a rare experience today in the world of multi-faith learning. If opening your hearts and minds to Spirit in a highly professional, transformative atmosphere is what you are looking for, then One Spirit Interfaith Seminary is for you."
- Christine H., Ph.D., Class of 2005, Distance Leanring Student

"One Spirit has offered me tools to be able to live in this world with integrity, honesty and love. Whether I choose to serve as a minister professionally or not, I know that my life has been enriched by my exposure to One Spirit and that I in turn have enriched the lives of those with whom I come in contact."
- Jay P., Class of 2005, Distance Learning Student

"This program is life altering and life affirming. You cannot come into the program and leave as the same person. Spiritual growth and greater love of self and other are inevitable."
- Rowena S., Class of 2005, Attending Student
