Support
Deans and Mentors
Every student is assigned a dean and a mentor. Deans are experienced Interfaith ministers and educators who will read your written assignments, provide stretches that support your growth, and play the role of guide and advisor throughout your year of study. Mentors are Seminary graduates who are available to serve as a sounding board and spiritual friend to a small number of students assigned to them.
Study Groups
To stimulate further discussion and to deepen your understanding of the topics being explored, students are required to join a study group. Study groups are organized by the students themselves and are usually formed based on geographic proximity and time availability. They may meet as little as once a month, or as often as once a week. Corresponding students join with other students in their area, or participate in study groups through conference calls or internet chat groups. Study groups enhance the experience of participation, providing each student with a small community within the larger class structure. Groups are primarily self-directed. Groups use their time to visit houses of worship, engage in spiritual practice, share their personal stories, minister to each other, and further investigate significant issues from the readings or class discussion.
