Ordination
Upon successful completion of all training requirements, students are ordained in a private, sacred ceremony held during the Second Year Intensive. Two days later, they are presented to the larger community in a formal Commencement Ceremony held in one of New York’s largest churches. Family and friends are invited to share in this joyous, powerful, and deeply moving celebration. Following the ceremony, graduates receive the formal paperwork which allows graduates to function legally as Interfaith clergy.
Note: The final step in the Ordination process is for you to receive a "Letter of Assignment" from a recognized religious or spiritual organization whose work and mission you feel aligned with and supportive of. The letter officially endorses your ministry and is part of the formal paperwork you receive upon graduation. Early in your training, you will be given a list of possible organizations through whom you can receive an assignment of ministry, but you are not limited to the organizations on that list. Every organization has different requirements for issuing a letter of assignment, which you will need to investigate. One Spirit will provide guidance in this process, and can itself issue assignments of ministry to those who feel closely aligned with its purpose and do not have another spiritual community in which they are involved. |
