Studies at One Spirit
Message
of the Mystic Heart Series
InterSpirituality for the 21st Century
With
Kurt Johnson, Ph.D.
Coming in 2010
This
exciting series of workshops focuses on teachings and
philosophy of the man who coined the word “InterSpiritual,”
the late Brother Wayne Teasdale. Led by Dr. Kurt Johnson,
close associate and friend of Teasdale himself,
this series offers seeker and scholar alike the rare
opportunity to explore this modern mystic's ground-breaking
work in trans-traditional spirituality and awakened
awareness as
presented in The Mystic Heart: Discovering a Universal
Spirituality in the World’s Religions and
other seminal works.
It is recommended that Loch Kelly’s Awakened
Awareness Series, and One Spirit Learning Alliance’s
course in Integral Spirituality be taken in follow-up
to this series. |

Workshop
1:
The Global Implications of an Integral View
This
module distinguishes "religion," "spirituality"
and "awakened awareness," and illuminates
the latter with an awakened heart as integral to engaging
today’s world religions in world global transformation.
Also drawing from the Heart Sutra’s message of
skillful service, Dr. Kurt Johnson presents Brother
Wayne Teasdale's vision of world transformation: his
“two-pronged approach” and his “omega
vision.” This module also provides students a
detailed introduction to the “skillful means map”
of the world’s Integral visionaries and thinkers,
concentrating particularly on a succinct overview of
Ken Wilber’s Integral Vision.

2 :
The Common Core of Human Wisdom
and the Care of the Earth
This informational
and discussion-based module extends the vision of world
change in Brother Wayne Teasdale’s classic
The Mystic Heart
to the arena of science and stewardship of the Earth.

In the context
of One Spirit’s work with wiserearth.org and other
vehicles of world change, this course provides the context
from the world’s religions and spiritual traditions
for “Earth-Care” and recognition of today’s
global environmental challenges, drawing from:
• The work of Brother Wayne Teasdale
• A recent series produced by Harvard University
on this subject
• The comprehensive view of world shift and environmental
concerns articulated by Paul Hawken in his bestseller
Blessed Unrest (2007) and subsequent WiserEarth
online community
Dr. Johnson further draws from his participation in
the Humanist Institute’s ecohumanism work, the
American Association for the Advancement of Science’s
“Dialogue of Science, Ethics and Religion”
and provides a succinct overview of today’s environmental
challenges in the context of the modern Integral thinkers,
particularly the Integral theory and Integral ecology
of Ken Wilber.
