INTENSIVES IN CONSCIOUS LEADERSHIP

Held over a two-year period, these intensives address the deeper levels of the Leader-Self and provide an overview of an integral approach to modern day leadership and organizational challenges. Our approach to Leadership training moves beyond traditional leadership methods that focus on changing individual surfacebehaviors and organizational structures, and explores root causes along with the impact of the surrounding social systems and organizational culture. These intensives can be taken independently or applied to the Conscious Leadership Institute Certificate Program.

Leadership that Motivates Skillful Action and Generates Positive Results

  • Do you want to strengthen your capacity for influence and leadership no matter what role you play in society?
  • Do you want to have a more positive impact with family and friends, at work and in the wider community?
  • Are you looking to help your organization or community rise to address the challenges of a complex and demanding environment?
  • Do want to inspire others to function at their best?

The second of four Leadership Intensives addresses these aspirations. We will work with the inner strengths of the leader at the causal level in order to better engage others in meaningful conversation and to build more productive work relationships. We will see how our biology and our inner state influence each other and explore how they both directly impact our (1) level of reactivity, (2) the quality of our behavior, (3) the tone of our conversation, and (4) our ability to achieve results.  We will learn to manage our energy and understand its impact on the quality of our listening and our ability to speak clearly and directly. We will develop our ability to let go of judgments and preconceived ideas while maintaining discerning wisdom and will:

  • Deepen our capacity for awareness and presence
  • Listen with curiosity, spaciousness and compassion
  • Speak clearly from the heart as we choose our words carefully
  • Learn the skills of inquiry and skillful advocacy
  • Surface assumptions and un-discussable issues and identify unproductive behaviors
  • Manage anxiety in the face of ambiguity and change.
  • Convert anger to strength and use that energy to act with clarity
  • Use skillful conversation to motivate effective action

Being an effective leader is difficult.  Today, this is especially true in today’s environment. Leaders are asked to rise above their personal reactions and short term interests.  Today’s leader must develop the capacity to 1) hold multiple perspectives, 2) discern the best from these perspectives and 3) act for the highest good of the whole. We must push to the limits of our current identity and develop a more expansive inner foundation from which to act.  Some of the capacities that answer this need include:

  • Handle competing demands effectively
  • Manage internal and external stress with ease
  • Become more resilient and recover quickly from setbacks
  • Moving beyond either/or positions
  • Reframing difficult situations
  • Integrate multiple intelligences
  • Create a safe space and build trust
  • Develop a culture that nurtures innovation and continuous learning

In this intensive we will have a unique opportunity to deepen our leadership consciousness and develop tangible skills. We will build on the insights of both ancient wisdom and modern knowledge as we prepare to lead from our inner depths and to live and work from a place of deep authenticity.

Whatever role your leadership takes, with individuals, groups or organizations, you will develop valuable insights and capacities in this three day experience.  Whether you are a leader of an organization, a team, a family or your own life you will experience your life more fully and influence others more gracefully. Regardless of your role (as a counselor, coach, manager, consultant, entrepreneur, community organizer, minister/clergy, teacher, health care professional, legal practitioner, government worker, volunteer, parent or grandparent) this three day intensive can help you become the sort of leader who others admire and whose positive influence radiates out to everyone they encounter.

This is the second of four required intensives in One Spirit Learning Alliance’s Conscious Leadership Program; however, enrollment is open to the general public. Participants will gain valuable skills, whatever realm they exercise their leadership in. Leadership Intensive 1 is available via distance learning.
