What happens when we open the door, turn on the light,
and let it shine on an unexamined aspect of reality?
The intention of this course and series is to encourage
students to explore and deepen their understanding of
the nature of loss, bereavement and the dying process
in a safe and nurturing environment.
Rev.
Ariel Sebastian was a 2nd Year Dean at One
Spirit Interfaith Seminary for many years. She is a
Registered
Drama Therapist, Licensed Creative Arts Therapist and
Bereavement Facilitator. She has been in private practice
since 1987. It was her work in the area of End of Life
Care and Bereavement that led Ariel to becoming an Interfaith
minister and eventually to The Interfaith Fellowship
where she served as an Associate Minister. She is also
a Chaplain for Disaster Chaplaincy Services. In addition,
Ariel and her dog, Mercy, are Registered Delta Society
Pet Partners. Integrating her love of art, nature and

pain and loss. Meditation, discussion and experiential
exercises in the practice of “The Five Stages
of Grief and Dying” and clarification of the “Three
Styles of Helping” will be covered. Students will
refine listening skills, delve into the fears of the
other, create a memorial service and explore prayer.
Learn to bring your mindful and compassionate presence
to others in the grieving process by creating a safe
container to hold their fears in moment-to-moment awareness.
