If you are in the helping professions, you probably know firsthand how trauma impacts the lives of the adults, children, and families you serve. Through the heartfelt connections you cultivate with your clients, you, too, are prone to suffer the effects of loss, neglect, or abuse. This is called “vicarious trauma.” In this class, you will increase your awareness of its effects on your personal and professional life as well as learn practical tools to help bring your life back into balance.
In this class, participants will: Learn what vicarious trauma is and the prevalence of trauma Identify how vicarious trauma affects your professional and personal life Learn wellness and self-care strategies to bring your life back into balance
Anyone can benefit from the wellness techniques highlighted in this course, but ministers, counselors, and students-in-training especially will gain applicable lessons to help them stay mindful of how their work in serving others impacts their day-to-day lives. You will equip yourself with the knowledge of the prevalence of trauma in all of its various forms and self-care tools in order to empower yourself to better minister to others.
